Maged is the Managing director for the South African Ideas Festival 2021. He is an Egyptian entrepreneur, researcher, and artist. He is passionate about entrepreneurial leadership, fine arts, social development, and culture preservation. For him, SAIF represents the power of an idea in creating a difference in the community. His main goal of serving SAIF2021 is to create a system of support for African entrepreneurial youth. “There is no bad idea!” has been his motto since joining the African Leadership Academy.
Patra Wanjiru Mwaniki
Director of Finance and Curriculum Development
Patra is the Director of Finance and Curriculum Development for the South African Ideas Festival 2021. She is a young passionate entrepreneur that hopes to start and run her own company in the future. She regards herself as the Doyenne because “ One day I’ll be the most prominent woman in my field and this is just my way of manifesting it.” Her ultimate goal this year is to successfully bring SAIF to Africa and to build and empower entrepreneurship among her peers.
Director of Logistics and Operations
Akinfolami is the Director of Logistics and Operations for the South African Ideas Festival. He is a passionate educator and tech-enthusiast. He aims to channel this passion to study electrical engineering and eventually venture into Ed-tech. Akinfolami enjoys engaging with systems where youth can connect and ideate. He hopes to use SAIF as a medium to grow and also serve his community.
Director of Administration
Chizoma is the Director of Administration for the South African Ideas Festival 2021. She is passionate about feminism, politics, social justice, and community development. She intends to expand on her passions by studying political science and becoming a prominent figure in Nigerian politics and governance. She is driven by the proclamation “You shall hear of me”, this inspires me to continue making positive change and positively impact as many people as possible. #firstfemalepresident.
Director of Marketing
Macdonald Chirara is the Director of Marketing for the South African Ideas. He is involved in science and technology, and initiatives aimed at protecting the environment. He also currently serves as a World Literacy Foundation Ambassador working towards eradicating illiteracy by reaching to marginalized communities through innovation and technology. He hopes to use SAIF as a platform to empower young people’s ideas.
Ssanyu Sematimba is an Entrepreneurial Leadership teaching fellow at the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design in 2017; a Bachelors with Honours degree in Visual Communication in 2018; a Postgraduate Diploma in Design Thinking in 2019.
Ssanyu is an African-born Visual Communicator, raised in Johannesburg - South Africa, who believes in the application of innovative design thinking. Her understanding of Design -thinking is that it is should be the inherent human ability to contextualise challenges, and then adapt solutions instinctively through processes of creative, unhindered rapid interaction. Varied solutions are therefore attainable with the application of the products and processes of design thinking. Ssanyu is a firm believer that Design has the ability to break down barriers and serve as a universal language to communicate with all people, cross-culturally.
